Child Behaviour Policy

This code of behaviour is there to make sure everyone who takes part in Basking Babies Ltd activities knows what is expected of them and feels safe, respected and valued. This code of behaviour aims to:

  • Identify acceptable and unacceptable behaviour
  • Encourage cooperation, honesty, fairness and respect
  • Create an environment where your self-esteem, self-respect and self-confidence will grow
  • Encourage you to recognise and respect the rights of others
  • Encourage our little ones to grow up able to take responsibility for their own behaviour
  • Help resolve conflicts and make it clear what will happen if the code is not followed.

Our code of behaviour

Our aim is to provide safe, inclusive, non-judgemental space in all of our Basking Babies classes.

We absolutely understand that the young children that come to our classes are learning to be social beings and we are here to support them in this journey. We encourage social interaction and exploration through movement and touch.

In all of our classes the adult who brought the child to class is responsible for the child at all times. We NEVER expect children to ’behave’ perfectly and want parents to feel completely comfortable coming to our classes, knowing that young children will frequently do things that we as adults have to guide them through!

We simply ask that as your child explores the world in this wonderful safe space that we encourage them to do so with respect to others. So please help us to protect our own children and others in the class by encouraging them to:

  • Be supportive and kind to others
  • Be friendly
  • Listen to others
  • Have good manners
  • Treat everyone with respect
  • Take responsibility for their own behaviour
  • Talk to your Basking Babies instructor about anything that worries or concerns you
  • Follow this code of behaviour and other rules (including the law)
  • Join in and have fun!

What happens if the code of behaviour is not followed?

In the unlikely situation where a child’s (or adult’s) behaviour during our classes was unacceptable, causing physical or emotional harm to another, the Basking Babies instructor would speak to the adult during the class to remind them of our code of behaviour and try to resolve the issue. The matter may be escalated in certain circumstances in attempt to resolve it, and if that was not possible then Basking Babies Ltd (and relevant franchisees) reserve the right to request the adult and child to leave the class in order to protect others. (In any circumstances where the adult’s behaviour posed a risk to the child we would act in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy).
